Dermal Fillers
Dermal Fillers are used to smooth wrinkles or folds or to give lips more fullness and contour. The products give shape using the body's own natural material called hyaluronic acid. This binds water in your skin to lift and give new firmness, resorting youthful resilience to the skin by simply adding to your natural supply. . When injected, they have an immediate effect, enhancing facial contours and providing fullness and volume to the skin. The brands that I use are
Restylane,
Teosyal and
Belotero.
There are different ranges within each brand as you need a different grade for different depths of line or fold. Both Restylane and Teosyal both do a filler especially for the lips – Restylane Lipp and Teosyal Kiss.
Manufactured in Switzerland, Teosyal is a new range of “100% hyaluronic acid based”, wrinkle-filling products. These products are highly biocompatible and are slowly absorbed. TEOSYAL can be injected into the entire face, neckline, neck and hands.
Naturally present in the skin, hyaluronic acid preserves moisturising levels in the skin and boosts tone.
Hyaluronic acid is a powerful moisturising agent, the quantity of which in the dermis gradually decreases with age. As a result, the skin dries out and becomes fragile, and the first wrinkles appear.
The tissues progressively sag and the face becomes hollow.
Injected into the dermis, TEOSYAL effectively alleviates this hyaluronic acid deficiency thanks to its high hyaluronic acid concentration.

Restylane is a crystal-clear gel form of hyaluronic acid, a substance that occurs naturally in the body. Hyaluronic acid holds water, hydrating and giving volume to the skin. As we get older the production of our natural hyaluronic acid diminishes. A simple injection of Restylane replenishes the lost volume and improves your looks by enhancing your facial profile, creating fuller lips, and smoothing out lines and wrinkles.
Since its launch in 1996. Restylane has been used safely in over 2 million treatments, in more than 70 countries worldwide - so you can be reassured that it has a proven safety track record.
Restylane also comes in various products, optimised to treat specific areas and types of skin.
- Perlane: for those deeper lines and wrinkles.
- Lipp: Optimised for lip treatment.
- Touche: Deals with the finer lines.
- Vital: Skin rejuvenation, used for backs of hands, chest and neck.

Belotero is available in two formulations to match your particular skin and facial characteristics:
* Belotero Soft corrects fine and superficial lines around the eyes and mouth.
* Belotero Basic corrects medium wrinkles around the eyes and lines around the mouth. It is also used to augment the lips and improve contours on the face. It is injected a little deeper into the skin than for the "soft" formula.
Belotero's stability provides a perfect lasting cosmetic result and a particularly natural and beautiful appearance..
A unique production process gives Belotero unique elasticity which means it integrates homogenously into the skin with an immediate effect. Its even distribution under the skin produces a softer transition between even and untreated areas.

A full consultation will be carried out prior to any treatment where we will discuss your requirements fully and decide which filler would be most suitable for you.
Most people are suitable for Dermal Fillers. However, you should not use aspirin, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medication, St. John's Wort or high doses of Vitamin E prior to treatment because these may increase the risk of bruising or bleeding at the injection site.
The effect of hyaluronic acid fillers has been shown to last for up to 6-9 months. At this point, you may wish to have your treatment repeated, if not the effect will gradually wear off.
After the treatment, some common injection-related reactions may occur including redness, pain, itching, discolouration or tenderness at the injection site. These usually resolve within 1-2 days and within a week in lips.
Other reactions are rare (1 in 2,000 treated patients have experienced local hypersensitivity reactions including redness, tenderness and swelling. These have been described as mild to moderate with an average duration of 2 weeks).
